Joint development of infrared heater
A Turkish manufacturer of white goods had developed an infrared portable space heater for typical Turkish homes, most of which do not have central heating.
However, the portable heater, manufactured by a subcontractor in China, suffered from poor quality and claims of up to 15%, with some heaters working for only two weeks. The Turkish company approached us, and together we developed a reliable infrared heater.
In this joint venture, we provide the resistance heating wire, and technical support, while the Turkish company inserts the ready-made element into a body with a controlling unit.
Sales in 2008 of the portable infrared heaters (which carry a "Heated by Kanthal" sticker) skyrocketed and the customer claims on the heaters have been cut to less than 1%. The product has been so successful that the distribution has expanded beyond Turkey.
