German automaker cuts gas consumption and emissions
In conjunction with a Kanthal team, a German automobile company installed Ecothal SER burners to reduce gas consumption and emissions while improving the quality of the engine parts.
Working closely with a Kanthal technical service team, a German automobile company replaced old high-gas consumption and high-emission burners in four furnace chambers with Ecothal recuperative burners.
The result: emissions were slashed from NOx 800 ppm to 60 ppm (an 87% decrease) and fuel consumption reduced by a whopping 23%. The conversion also substantially improved safety and the quality of the engine parts such as axels and transmissions through more homogeneous heat treatment that also generated less scrap.
Furnace lifetime was extended and service intervals are now much longer.
