Sandvik launches a new U and W radiant tube program

Sandvik's new U and W radiant tube program under the Kanthal brand will be launched at the Ankiros Annover exhibition in Istanbul November 11. With the introduction of the long life, FeCrAl alloys Kanthal® APM and Kanthal® APMT, Sandvik offers new possibilities to increase furnace efficiency and productivity.

The launch of Sandvik's new tube program addresses furnace operator's desire to increase tube temperature and life length. The tubes made in Kanthal® APM and Kanthal® APMT are produced from powder metallurgy alloys in a hot isostatic process. The result is a material with a very uniform microstructure and excellent mechanical strength. Especially useful in high temperature carburizing and sulfidizing atmospheres, these alloys are exceptionally resistant to corrosion and sagging.

The tube program also includes FeNiCr grades, providing cost-efficient alternatives when furnace conditions are not too severe.

Since heating and corrosion conditions often are tougher at the burner leg of the tube, Sandvik has developed a method of manufacturing U- and W-shaped tubes with Kanthal® APM or Kanthal® APMT for the burner leg only. This cost-effective combination of materials has been running in test installations since 2008, with excellent results.
