Ladle heating systems
Kanthal® electrical ladle dryers and ladle heaters (pre-heaters) deliver significant reductions in energy consumption compared to gas-heated systems. The net efficiency of Kanthal® electrically heated ladle dryers and ladle heaters (pre-heaters) is 70%, compared with only 20% for gas. The design of the system allows the radiation to be more accurately directed towards the target area – a highly efficient heating method.
Kanthal® ladle dryers and ladle heaters (pre-heaters) are typically used in the production of aluminium and steel. They are available for ladles with inner diameter 500–2100 mm (20–83 in.), and installation is very simple in most cases.
Increased refractory life
With optimized curing during the dry out/baking and pre-heating processes, Kanthal® ladle dryers and ladle pre-heaters ensure that the refractory lining lifetime is significantly extended. They also provide dual functionality as they can be used both for pre-heating and holding of liquid metal.
Using electrical heating also reduces CO2 emissions. Furthermore, a cleaner, safer and quieter environment is achieved, making it a much healthier place for the operators.
