We own electric heating technology
Kanthal has been supplying advanced electrical heating technology worldwide since 1931, when metallurgist Hans von Kantzow founded the company with his discovery of the FeCrAl (iron, chromium and aluminium) alloy.
The original FeCrAl alloy was followed by other innovative developments in the field of high-strength materials. We were the first company to offer molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) heating elements , and we also have silicon carbide (SiC) heating elements in our portfolio .
Innovation is at the heart of Kanthal and every year we invest 2% of our turnover in research and development. Since great ideas often come from working together, we are involved in many projects with universities, research institutes and clients to find new solutions to problems that may not even exist yet. In this way, we ensure that we remain the leading provider of heating solutions and keep our solutions in line with new trends.
Innovation also refers to the improvement of existing processes. We have our own complete production chain from smelting to the finished product, which gives us unique control over the final product in terms of quality and uniformity. In over 90 years of operation, we have been able to hone our manufacturing processes.
We care about people and our planet
We also help those around us by improving the sustainability performance of our clients. With our help in electrifying their heating processes, our customers can reduce their CO2 emissions and at the same time reduce their energy production costs.
The ability to make a real difference is one reason people often cite when talking about why they enjoy working at Kanthal. Every Kanthal employee is involved in making these changes happen, so our people are our most valuable asset. We strive to ensure an inclusive work environment and diversity in our workforce, because we know that a combination of different perspectives, experiences and cultural backgrounds helps us succeed.
We are accelerating electrification for a sustainable future
Climate change is an immediate threat to all of us these days, and many industries are focused on how to meet the ambitious emission reduction targets set by politicians around the world.
Kanthal electrical heating technologies can play an important role in minimizing the carbon footprint of an industry. We know from experience that electricity can replace fossil fuels in all heating processes. In addition to reducing CO2 and thermal NOx and SOx emissions, the benefits of electric heating include increased efficiency, improved temperature control and a favorable working environment.
Our goal is to continue on the path of electrical heating technology and to ensure that today's and tomorrow's needs are met.
