Nikrothal® 42 is an austenitic nickel-chromium alloy (NiCr-alloy) for use at temperatures up to 1150°C (2100°F). The alloy is characterized by good ductility after use and good corrosion resistance, except in sulphur containing atmospheres and certain controlled atmospheres.

Nikrothal® 42 has an attractive combination of oxidation resistance and form stability making it a suitable alloy for open-coil heating elements.

Typical applications for Nikrothal® 42 are electric heating elements in domestic appliances and other heating equipment
